All the major stats and numbers during India’s 8-run win during the Nagpur ODI.
India registered their 500th ODI win by winning a thriller in Nagpur to go 2-0 up in the 5-match ODI series against Australia. Virat Kohli struck a brilliant 120-ball 116 on what was a difficult track to bat in humid conditions. He played a major role in helping India finish on 250/10 in 48.2 overs. Partnerships in intervals put the Aussies ahead in the chase as they were 33 runs away from a win with 34 balls and five wickets in hand. Jasprit Bumrah’s two overs cost only two runs and in return yielded two wickets. India cruised to an 8-run win with Vijay Shankar successfully defending 11 runs in the final over.

216 – Innings Virat Kohli needed to hit his 1000th boundary four in ODI cricket; the fewest by any player. Virender Sehwag took 221 innings for 1000 fours in ODIs; the fastest among the previous 11 players to hit as many fours in this format.
More numbers from Kohli’s knock: Stats: Virat Kohli completes 9000 runs as Indian captain in International cricket
Kohli in wins and Stoinis in losses:
33 – This was Virat Kohli’s 33rd century in winning cause in the ODI format; the joint-most by any player alongside Sachin Tendulkar.
7 – Marcus Stoinis now has seven fifty-plus scores in ODI format including six of them in chases. Unfortunately, Australia ended up on the losing side on all the seven instances.
A rare duck for Rohit and Dhoni:
1 – The duck in this game was Rohit Sharma’s maiden ODI duck in India. Rohit was dismissed for a duck on 12 occasions in ODI cricket previously but this was his first duck in 55 ODI innings at home. This was also the first time Rohit got out to Pat Cummins in International after scoring over 130 runs against the pacer.
2010 – The last instance of MS Dhoni bagging a golden duck in an ODI was in the 2010 Vizag ODI also against Australia. This was Dhoni’s 5th golden duck and 10th duck in the ODI format.
Dhoni-Jadeja combo does it for India:
28 – Number of dismissals in ODI cricket as wicketkeeper for MS Dhoni in the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja; the most ODI dismissals for him of any bowler. He affected 27 dismissals in the bowling of Harbhajan Singh including two for Asia XI.
The 28 dismissals by Dhoni-Jadeja combo are the most by a keeper-bowler pair for India in ODI cricket. Nayan Mongia and Venkatesh Prasad pair also had 28 dismissals between them in ODIs for India.
3 – Ravindra Jadeja is only the 3rd Indian with the all-round double of 2000 runs and 150 wickets in ODI cricket. Kapil Dev and Sachin Tendulkar are the other two players with this all-round double.
A lower order collapse:

A spin dominated Aussies:
30 – As many as 30 overs were bowled by the Australian spinners in this game; the most by the Australian spinners in an ODI game. (Note: There is a possibility of Australia bowling more overs of spin in an ODI that this in the past. Few of their part-timers are listed to bowl both pace and spin.)
