After the disappointing outings in the two-match T20I series against Australia, India have made a strong comeback in the ODI series, which they are currently leading 2-0 with victories in Hyderabad and Nagpur respectively. In both games, Virat Kohli and Co found themselves in a spot of bother, however, the team delivered under pressure and that is a healthy sign ahead of theWorld Cup.
The next game is scheduled to be played tomorrow JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi and Men in Blue are in with a chance of wrapping up the series with two matches left. The Aaron Finch-captained Aussies have had their moments, having got India on the mat on quite a few instances, but the visiting team floundered in crunch moments to surrender the ascendancy.
Pitch and Conditions
Only three completed matches have been played at the venue and the track has been a sporting one. The spinners are most likely to come into play. And as far as the records at the venue are concerned, a high-scoring affair can’t be expected by any means.
Team Combination
Shikhar Dhawan may be sidelined for KL Rahul, who didn’t play the first two games. Yuzvendra Chahal may get a game as well in place of Ravindra Jadeja. He will partner Kuldeep Yadav. Rohit Sharma would be hoping for a good game after his failure in Nagpur. The onus would be on Shankar to show consistency as the all-rounder. Bumrah and Shami will shoulder the fast bowling department.
Probable XI
Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli (C), Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (WK), Kedar Jadhav, Vijay Shankar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah
Australia
The visitors are most likely to remain unchanged. Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja are the openers with Shaun Marsh to follow. Peter Handscomb will be crucial to Australia’s chances as well. Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell remain as the fulcrum of the team. Nathan Coulter-Nile and Pat Cummins are the genuine pacers with the spin-duo of Adam Zampa and Nathan Lyon.
