India vs Bangladesh: 3 unlucky players to miss out from the Indian T20I squad

After finishing the first assignment of this home season – against South Africa – on a high, India are scheduled to face Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s tour of India consists of a 3-match T20I series and a 2-match Test series. India have a limited time of less than a year to prepare their troops before T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia. In the last concluded T20 series of India – against the Proteas; Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper talked a lot about planning for the marquee event in Australia.

As far as the shortest format is concerned, India have not been taking the best of the calls in recent times. So, fresh tactics – which match the modern levels – are required in the Indian T20 setup. One of the new approaches of the Indian team is about batting deep and letting the main batsmen playing with more freedom. Thus, youngsters are being tried; Kohli is rested and, Bumrah, Saini & Bhuvi have injury issues.

Following an impressive run in the Domestic Circuit, the batting all-rounder Shivam Dube has received his maiden call for the national team. Sanju Samson and Shardul Thakur have also got an opportunity to showcase their skills at the highest level. Whilst the likes of Dube, Samson, and Shardul have got a chance in the senior team, a few players are unlucky to miss out.

1. Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav who was making his name at the international level steadily and consistently is having a tough time now. He is found nowhere near being the first-choice spinner in any format, and not even the white-ball cricket. A poor IPL season followed by ordinary performances in his maiden World Cup has meant it has been a disappointing year for him. Albeit, Kuldeep had done enough to get some backing in his bad phase.

Although he played a One-Day match against the West Indies, one game does not count as backing. He is low on confidence but that’s what the team management along with the captain have had to do – boost his morale. In his 18-match T20I career, the left-arm Chinaman bowler has scalped 35 wickets with an incredible average of 13. Kuldeep also has a five-wicket haul and a four-wicket haul in the shortest format.

The Kanpur-born can be very useful for the Indian side on the fast and bouncy tracks of Australia. Since Kuldeep is a left-arm chinaman, his inclusion also adds variety in the Indian bowling attack. He deserved to be in the squad for this series at home which is against Bangladesh, a relatively weaker opponent. A few good performances would have surely increased his confidence.
