India bounced back strongly in the T20I series against England as they won the second match by seven wickets. India completely dominated the visitors from the very start and did not give an inch to the English side. The home side won the toss earlier and invited the English side to bat first. India handed debuts to two players- Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav- in this game.
England posted a total of 164/6 in 20 overs with the help of a 46-run knock from Jason Roy at the top. Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur picked up two wickets each for the home side.
While chasing the total, India lost KL Rahul for a duck in the very first over. However, debutant Ishan Kishan smacked the English bowlers all over the park to put India’s foot forward in the game. He got out after scoring 56 runs off 32 balls including five fours and four sixes. Later on, Indian skipper Virat Kohli displayed his classic touch as he played a glorious knock of 73 runs off 49 balls. He hit five fours and three sixes in his unbeaten innings and helped the team chase the total in 17.5 overs.

Virat Kohli shatters big records
3000 – Virat Kohli completed 3000 runs in T20Is with his superb knock, and became the first-ever men’s player to achieve the milestone. He has scored 3001 runs in the shortest format at an incredible average of 50.86
26 – This was Virat’s 26th fifty+ score in T20Is. He surpassed Rohit Sharma in this regard and has now reached the top spot.
12000 – The prolific batsman also completed 12000 runs as captain in International cricket and became just the third player to achieve the feat. Only Ricky Ponting and Graeme Smith are ahead of him in the list. Virat is the fastest among the three to cross the mark.
10 – This was Virat’s tenth 50+ score as an Indian skipper in the shortest format. He has now attained the joint second spot in this regard and is only behind Kane Williamson (11). Virat and Williamson are the only players to have ten 50+ scores in each of the three formats of the game.
50.86 – The Indian skipper’s average is now 50.86 in T20Is, which makes him the only player to score at 50+ average in all three formats.
The dominance of India in chases
8 – This was the eighth consecutive win for India while chasing at home in T20Is. While chasing a target, they last lost a home T20I back in 2017 against New Zealand.
1 – In the last 11 T20Is while chasing, India have lost only one game while winning the other 10. The only loss came against Australia in 2020.
Ishan Kishan’s milestones on debut
56 – Ishan Kishan became the second Indian player after Ajinkya Rahane to hit a fifty on T20I debut. His 56-run knock is the second-highest score after Ajinkya Rahane’s 61 (39) against England in 2011.
4 – The youngster smashed four sixes in his innings, which is the joint second-highest for an opener on T20I debut.
7 – Ishan Kishan was adjudged Player of the Match in this game, and became the seventh Indian debutant to win the award in T20Is.
Unique record for Suryakumar Yadav
101 – Suryakumar Yadav has played 101 IPL matches till now and became the first player to make his debut for India after featuring in more than 100 IPL games.
Golden duck for Jos Buttler
5 – Jos Buttler was dismissed for a first-ball duck by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He is the fifth opener to bag a golden duck against India in T20Is.
