India vs England, 2021: 4th T20I - Records galore for Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit’s special six, Hardik Pandya’s excellent spell and more stats

India have won a thriller against England in the fourth T20I to keep the series alive. The hosts had set a target of 186 runs for England after they were asked to bat first. Suryakumar Yadav who played his debut innings in this match slammed a brilliant half-century. He hit 57 runs off 31 balls with the help of 6 fours and 3 sixes. Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant also had vital contributions. Jofra Archer registered his best bowling figures in the format picking up 4 wickets for 33 runs.

In response to this total, England lost their first 3 wickets for 66 runs and were on the backfoot at that time. From there, Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow made a good comeback adding 65 runs for the fourth wicket. However, Indian bowlers bowled wonderfully in the final few overs to ensure victory. The fifth and final T20I of this series will be played on 20th March.

5 – Suryakumar Yadav became just the fifth Indian player to smash a fifty in his debut T20I innings. Before him, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Robin Uthappa achieved this milestone. His score of 57 is the second-highest for an Indian in his maiden T20I innings.

5 – The stylish batsman hit the very first ball of his innings for a six, and became the fifth player to do so on the first ball of the International career. This is only among Test-playing nations and matches played since 2002.

8 – Among full-member nations, Suryakumar Yadav is the eighth player and first Indian to hit the first ball of their T20I career for a six.

1 – Rohit Sharma hit the very first ball of the innings for a six, and became the first Indian to do so in T20Is.  

50 – Rohit also completed his 50 sixes at home in T20Is, and became the first Indian player to reach the landmark.

Jason Roy’s feat

1034 – Jason Roy scored 40 runs off 27 balls in this match and completed 1000 runs in his T20I career. He is the sixth English player to reach the landmark with 1034 runs in 42 innings to his name.
