3. Prasidh Krishna
A relatively unknown name to get picked for the three-match ODI series against England has to be of the tall fast bowler hailing from Karnataka, Prasidh Krishna. Krishna had introduced himself to the cricket fraternity during the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he was picked by franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2018 edition and made his debut that same season.
His debut season was Krishna featuring in seven IPL matches picking up an impressive 10 wickets. However, the right-arm couldn’t keep a check on his economy rate as he failed to put a stop to the constant flow of the runs. As compared to the T20Is, the 25-year-old boasts of having an excellent record in 50-over games as he has featured in 48 List-A matches thus far picking 81 wickets at an economy of 5.17.
The seamer is also coming after a good run in the 2020-21 edition of the Vijaya Hazare Trophy while playing for his home team Karnataka. Though Krishna has been successful in getting his maiden call to the Indian side, he is unlikely to make a debut as India will be keener on going with tested seamers in the form of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, and Shardul Thakur, if the third pacer is required.
