India vs England: Rohit Sharma comes up with incredible effort to run Jason Roy out
Rohit Sharma's brilliant effort gave India their first breakthrough in the second ODI.
In recent times, Rohit Sharma have been trolled by many for his bodyweight. Time and again, one has seen the trolls taking shots at the India star for his weight. And time and again, Rohit has shut them up with his performances on the field. On Friday, the India batting superstar once again showed his ability on the field by pulling off an incredible piece of fielding to run out Jason Roy during the second ODI against England at the Maharashtra Cricket Association in Pune.
Chasing a mammoth total of 337, England were once again off to a solid start as Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy made the most of their form. They had shared a 135-run stand in the first ODI and followed it up with another century-plus stand in the ongoing game. None of the Indian bowlers looked like dismissing them before Rohit came up with the incredible effort to give India the much-needed breakthrough.
England were on 110 for no loss in just the 17th over when Rohit dismissed Roy for 55. On the third ball of the over bowled by Kuldeep Yadav, Bairstow flicked one towards mid-wicket. At first, it looked like the ball would go past Rohit and the England openers thought the same. With the ball well far from Rohit, they set off for a single straightaway.
Rohit, however, was not ready to let the ball go past as he made a stunning dive towards his right to stop the ball with one hand. Roy and Bairstow were stranded in the middle of the pitch at that time and before they could do anything, Rohit threw the ball to Rishabh Pant at the striker’s end who did the rest.
Here is a clip of the run-out:
