February 24, 2021 was a proud day for India as The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind performed bhumi pujan and inaugurated the revamped Motera Cricket Stadium renamed as Narendra Modi Stadium, that is world’s largest cricket stadium with a capacity of accommodating as many as 1.32 lakhs spectators.
Along with President, Home Minister Amit Shah, BCCI secretary Jay Shah and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju also graced the inauguration ceremony held before the commencement of the highly-anticipated pink-ball Test of the four-match series between India and England.
On the eve of the pink-ball Test, the Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju had taken the tour of the whole Motera Stadium alongside Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The union minister took to his official Twitter handle to post some pictures from his tour of the iconic place and congratulated the authorities for the achievement.
‘‘A proud moment! Hon’ble President Shri Ram Nath Kovind Ji will inaugurate the largest Cricket Stadium in the world at Ahmedabad tomorrow. A vision set by PM @narendramodi Ji & executed by HM @AmitShah Ji is here. @JayShah Secy BCCI briefed me about the world class facilities!,’’ the minister wrote in his official handle.

Jay Shah and Kiren Rijiju trolled on social media
Meanwhile, the pictures posted by Kiren Rijiju took the social media by storm as one of the pictures show Shah and Rijiju in the dressing room of the Indian team with latter touching the equipment of the players. One notable point here is that neither of the people present in the room were wearing a face mask.
As the Twitterati took note of this development, they slammed Kiren Rijiju and Jay Shah for breaching the bio-bubble and risking the health of the players and other staff. In the wake of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the matches between India and England are being conducted in a bio-secure bubble wherein nobody apart from players, support staff and match officials are allowed to enter the dressing room or touch the belongings of the players.
Thus, the pictures posted by the Union Minister evoked strong criticism from the fans and people of social media as they called out the people concerned to have a look in the matter along with criticizing Rijiju for breaching the protocols.
