The second Test between India and England is currently in progress in Chennai with the hosts in the drivers’ seat after posting 329 runs in the first innings on a square turner. Rohit Sharma scored 161 runs while Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant smacked half-centuries to propel India. Rather it was due to Pant’s quickfire batting that the team managed to go past the 300-run mark.
India lost four wickets for just 29 runs on the second morning but in that span too, Rishabh Pant managed to stun the crowd with his hitting. The home side lost both Axar Patel and Ishant Sharma within the first 10 minutes on the second day and that led to the Indian wicketkeeper starting to attack in quest of quick runs.
With Kuldeep Yadav and Rishabh Pant batting, Joe Root took matters into his own hands in the 91st over of the innings. Pant, off the third ball of the over, despite the ball turning out of the rough, strode out of the crease to smack him for a huge six.
The ball went into the stands and the Indian dressing room was ecstatic with the shot. Virat Kohli was pumped up as well as he was in awe of Rishabh Pant. The video of the same has gone viral on social media as well.

Rishabh Pant’s good form continues
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has gained a lot of confidence from his performance in Australia it seems. The way he batted in the last two Tests in Sydney and Brisbane, he has carried that form into the England series as well and has now hit four fifties in as many Tests.
In the second Test against Chennai, he came out to bat when India were 248/4 and scored an unbeaten 58 off the next 81 runs the team scored. He smacked seven fours and three sixes in the process and propelled India to probably the match-winning score on the turning pitch at the Chepauk.
