India vs England: Virat Kohli, Jos Buttler involved in a heated exchange during the series-decider
Buttler was not happy after his dismissal and was seen saying something to the Indian skipper.
Tempers flew as India and England fought it out in the fifth and final T20I of the recently-concluded series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The final lived up to the expectations before England’s challenge eventually fizzled out and India won the match comfortably in the end. During the game, India skipper Virat Kohli and Jos Buttler were involved in a heated exchange after the latter was dismissed by pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Buttler was going great guns with the bat and was threatening to take the game away from India before Bhuvneshwar sent him back in the 13th over. Before his departure, Buttler had smashed 52 off 34 balls with the help of two fours and four sixes. He also added 130 runs for the second wicket with Dawid Malan.
And soon after he was caught by Hardik Pandya at long-off, Buttler was seen saying something to Kohli, who was celebrating the wicket with his teammates. Buttler’s action did not go down well with Kohli and the 32-year old hit back at the England star. Buttler and Kohli were seen arguing for a few seconds before the England batsman eventually walked back to the pavilion. Later, Kohli was also seen speaking to umpire Nitin Menon and was seemingly speaking about the incident between him and Buttler.
Here is a clip of the incident, involving Virat Kohli and Buttler:
India thrash England to seal the series
Talking about the game, India won it by 36 runs to seal the series 3-2. Asked to bat first, the Men in Blue piled up 224 for 2 – their highest-ever T20I total against England. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma starred with the bat, scoring 80* and 64 respectively. The likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya also played handy cameos to guide India to the big total.
In reply, England finished their innings on 188 for 8. Buttler and Malan scored fighting fifties but lack of support from the other batsmen saw the Brits concede the game meekly in the end. For India, Bhuvneshwar Kumar made the difference with the ball by taking two wickets while giving away just 15 runs off his four overs. Both the teams will now lock horns in a three-match ODI series.
