India vs England: Virat Kohli rushes out of the dressing room to celebrate Rishabh Pant's century
Virat Kohli rushed out of the dressing room and literally ran down the stairs to clap for his team mate.
Rishabh Pant can hold you in thrall. He can play outrageous shots out of nowhere and pulverize the opposition with the willow in hand. On the second day of the 4th Test between India and England, it was Pant who single-handedly sent the England bowlers to the cleaners.
The 23-year-old scored a breathtaking 101 off just 118 deliveries to help India finish the second day with a lead of 89 over England. And, the bravery that he displayed to get to his century impressed everybody, including Indian skipper Virat Kohli.
To a delivery from Joe Root that pitched on off stump, Pant went for the sweep shot and sent the ball soaring into the stands to bring up his three-figure score. Such was the audacity in the shot that skipper Virat Kohli was thoroughly excited. Kohli, in fact, rushed out of the dressing room and literally ran down the stairs to clap for his teammate.

England bowlers wilt under the Rishabh Pant masterclass
At the end of Day 2, England were left starring down the barrel as Rishabh Pant completely decimated the visitors. At one stage, the Indian side was tottering at 146/6 and was in danger of getting bowled out for less than 200. But then, Pant and Washington Sundar put on a match-defining partnership of 113 runs for the 7th wicket to help India finish the day with their scorecard reading 294/7.
James Anderson was the only bowler who caused discomfort to the Indian willow wielders. The right-arm pace bowling icon gave away just 40 runs in his 20 overs. He also picked up the crucial wickets of Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant on Day 2. However, looking at the way the Test match has played out so far, it looks as if England would need a miracle to emerge victorious from here.
A victory in the final Test would mean that the Indian side would qualify for the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) to face New Zealand at Lord’s. If India loses the final rubber, Australia will travel to Lord’s to take on their Trans-Tasman rivals.
