India vs England: Virat Kohli tries to discuss Ben Stokes' run-out call with Nitin Menon; umpire ignores him
The controversial run-out call of Ben Stokes was the talking point of the match.
India skipper Virat Kohli is known for his aggression on the field. He is the first one to express his displeasure if he isn’t happy with anyone on the field including the umpires. In the ongoing series against England, right from the Tests, Kohli has been involved in heated discussions with umpires several times. He has also openly spoken about the issues that should be looked into during press conferences or in post-match presentations.
During the second ODI between India and England in Pune on Friday, the India captain was once again in the middle of an incident when he tried to analyse the margin of doubt between overs. The incident took place after the end of the 26th over of England’s innings when Ben Stokes survived a close run-out call.
Replays were inconclusive for the third umpire to come to a decision and he eventually ruled Stokes not-out. Soon after the end of the over, the animated Virat Kohli ran to the crease and tried to analyse the decision while trying to discuss with the umpire, Nitin Menon. However, the latter ignored him clearly showing that he wasn’t interested in it. Though Menon told something to him later and the 32-year-old had to walk away for play to start.

Ben Stokes turned the game on its head
Ben Stokes’ run-out decision was controversial as the England all-rounder turned the game on its head after reaching his half-century. Between overs 31 and 35, it was a six-hitting fest as the visitors added 87 runs to make the game one-sided. Stokes smacked 99 runs off just 52 deliveries with a whopping 10 sixes and 4 fours.
Jonny Bairstow also played his part in the run-chase slamming 124 off just 96 balls with 11 fours and 7 sixes as England gunned down the 337-run target with more than six overs to spare. One would feel if Ben Stokes’ run-out decision had gone in India’s favour, things could’ve been different as at the 26th over mark, both teams were fighting it out in a close game.
