India have been fined 20 per cent of their match fees for maintaining a slow over-rate against England in the second T20I in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Javagal Srinath of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction after Virat Kohli’s side was ruled to be one over short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration.

In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined 20 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.

Kohli pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing. On-field umpires Anil Chaudhary and K.N. Ananthapadmanabhan, and third umpire Virender Sharma leveled the charge.

2nd T20 between India and England

The 2nd T20I between India and England got staged at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad where hosts marked a stunning victory by seven wickets to bounce back in the series. Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav marked their debuts for Men in Blue and the day couldn’t have been better for young Kishan. Chasing down the target of 164 runs set by the opponents, India started on a weak note as KL Rahul left the pitch in the 1st over itself. However, sixes started raining as Kishan smashed 56 runs of 32 deliveries in next hour.

The game got even better for the hosts when Virat Kohli chipped in with his class. Kohli played a terrific knock of 73 runs of 43 balls and took team over the line. Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur picked two wickets each for the team while keeping it tight for the guests in their final overs. Indian skipper regaining his form after his lean patch became the major highlight of the day and Kishan was declared as the player of the match for his brave innings on the debut match. Jason Roy scored scored 46 runs for the England team.
