The rain affected high-voltage clash started late as per revised schedule of play and MS Dhoni won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first and Pakistani openers started steadily and they did not lose a wicket till 7th over but after Sharjeel’s wicket, Afridi promoted himself, trying to get runs quickly but he did not get runs this time but with good contributions from Malik and Akmal, Pakistan able to post a total of 118 runs from 18 overs. In reply, India also did not start well and lose their three wickets inside 5 overs but it was Kohli and Yuvraj’s partnership, helped India to win the game and India managed to win the game easily by 6 wickets. This was an important win for India and here we have rated Indian players out of 10 on how they performed against Pakistan.

1. Rohit Sharma: 2/10

Rohit Sharma and his affection with Eden Gardens Kolkata that we all know and this time around too against Pakistan, he looked in a good touch. He smashed Mohammad Irfan’s first ball over cover point and then in the same over he smashed another four towards backward square leg boundary and that showed us he was in touch but in the next over against Mohammad Amir, he was out trying to loft the ball but Shoaib Malik judged a good catch to take his wicket and by Rohit’s wicket, Pakistan have managed to get back into the game.

2. Shikhar Dhawan: 1/10

Shikhar was not in the best of form in T20Is in 2016 and his today’s dismissal against Mohammad Sami is a pure example of it. He was played on trying to steer the ball towards the third man and that showed us that it is high time for him now and he has to perform in the next match against Bangladesh otherwise India may think of including Ajinkya Rahane in place of him in the big game against Australia on March 27, 2016.

3. Virat Kohli: 10/10

There is no doubt in any one’s mind that why Virat Kohli has got 10 out of 10 points for his match-winning performance against Pakistan. He came into bat in the third over and after Rohit’s wicket, it was important for him to stay on the wicket and rotate the strike as much as possible and he did all the things but from the other wickets were going down but he did not panic and he made a good partnership of 61 runs with Yuvraj Singh but it was after Yuvraj Singh’s wicket, he smashed those lovely cover-drives and remained unbeaten till the very end and helped India to win yet another contest against their arch-rivals.

4. Suresh Raina: 3/10

Suresh Raina had a golden duck against Pakistan at Kolkata. He came into bat after Shikhar Dhawan’s wicket but against Pakistani pacer Mohammad Shami’s pace, he was played on just like Shikhar Dhawan and it was his first golden duck in T20Is. But once again, he bowled brilliantly and picked up a wicket of Sharjeel Khan and helped India to break the opening partnership of Pakistan.

5. Yuvraj Singh: 5/10

Yuvraj Singh has not played well in 2016 but this innings against Pakistan that he played of 24 runs from 23 balls, might be his best as he made a brilliant and match-winning partnership with Kohli. If at that time, he was out then India might have lost but he fought hard and took his time and played lots of sweeps against Pakistani spinners but trying to give charge to India’s innings, he lost his wicket and overall it was a good game for him.

6. MS Dhoni: 6/10

MS Dhoni once again used Ashwin in the powerplay overs and this time, around his plan worked which did not work in the last game. He opted for Raina to break the partnership of Ahmed Shehzad and Sharjeek Khan and he was spot on as Raina broke the partnership and he also brought on Hardik and he also took a wicket and in the batting, he came at no.6 and played sensibly and remained not out till the very end.

7. Hardik Pandya: 5/10

Hardik Pandya once again showed us that why he is a genuine all-rounder as he picked up a brilliant catch to dismiss Sharjeel Khan and then he took a big wicket of Afridi to help India to expose the batting lineup. However, he was not economical, as he was being hit by Malik and Akmal in his second over as he given 25 runs from 2 overs. Pandya would like to improve a bit on his bowling and if he will do then he can be an asset to this Indian side.

8. Ravindra Jadeja: 6/10

Ravindra Jadeja got turn from the very first ball but he was unlucky not to take a wicket for India in his first three overs as he dismissed Umar Akmal into his 4th over. He bowled fast and got a lot of purchase and troubled Pakistani batsman throughout his quota of 4 overs. However, he conceded a boundary trying to run out Shoaib Malik and it did not cost India that much as India won the match by 6 wickets.

9. Ravichandran Ashwin: 6/10

Ravi Ashwin once again bowled in powerplay overs and got the turn from the very first ball but just like Jadeja, he was unlucky too as he did not pick any wicket but it was Ashwin’s spell that helped India to put pressure on Pakistani batsmen consistently and it showed when Raina and Pandya came to bowl and trying to get runs from those bowlers overs, they got out. He would like to increase his wickets-tally from the next match and that would be great from his point of view and India’s too.

10. Ashish Nehra: 7/10

Ashish Nehra did not pick a wicket this time around against Pakistan in powerplay overs but he used his experience well to fool the Pakistani batsmen as he used bouncers and slow balls quite often to create doubt in Pakistani batsmen’s mind. This was pitch made for spinners but he ended up his figures by conceding only 20 runs from his 4 overs and took an important wicket of Shoaib Malik.

11. Jasprit Bumrah: 6/10

For the first time in his career may be Jasprit was under pressure and that we have seen as he did not execute his yorkers well and bowled full tosses and that helped Pakistani batsmen to score boundaries. However, he bowled very good slower ball cutters throughout his spell and took a wicket of Ahmed Shehzad, too. He would like to learn from this big match so that it can help him to perform well under pressure in India’s next big match against Australia on March 27, 2016.
