The rumored India vs Rest of the World game has reportedly got the green light and will be played on the 16th of September at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The fixture will feature retired international cricketers, who are part of the upcoming Legends League Cricket tournament, commencing on 17th September.

Earlier last month ,the central government had proposed Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations to commemorate India’s 75 years of independence and had requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to organize a cricket match between the Indian team and the rest of the World XI on August 22.

But due to the ongoing international fixtures, the running domestic tournament in England, and the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season, the availability of high-profile overseas players was a major doubt.

In the latest development, it has been confirmed that the fixture will go ahead, rescheduled for September 16th, and will feature some of the most revered former cricketers. The Indian team will be led by mercurial former skipper and president of BCCI Sourav Ganguly, while the recently retired Eoin Morgan will be marshaling the Rest of the World players in the field.

Sourav Ganguly will be accompanied by some notable former Indian cricketers with the likes of Virender Sehwag, Mohammad Kaif, Irfan Pathan, Parthiv Patel, and Harbhajan Singh, who had played alongside the former Indian skipper during their playing days.
