Virat Kohli finally brought an end to his wait for a Test century in 2019 as he struck a gritty ton against South Africa in the ongoing 2nd Test. The Indian skipper brought up his hundred just before lunch break on 2nd day in Pune, the only venue where Kohli lost a home Test as captain. In fact, this match was his 50th Test as an Indian skipper. He shared a 178-run stand for the 4th wicket with his deputy, Ajinkya Rahane.

2 – Virat Kohli became only the 2nd captain to score a century in the ongoing World Test Championship. Dimuth Karunaratne scored 122 on the first day of their home series against New Zealand.
4 – Virat Kohli is only the 4th player to score a century in his 50th Test match as captain. Stephen Fleming scored an unbeaten 274 which was his highest Test score. Steve Waugh and Alastair Cook are the other players with centuries in their 50th Test as captain.
7 – Kohli has scored a century against all the seven oppositions he has faced on Indian soil. He has also scored an away Test ton against six of those seven opponents with Bangladesh being the only exception.
9 – Virat has scored 9 Test tons as a captain in India; the joint-most home Test tons for an Indian captain. Sunil Gavaskar also has nine centuries in home Test matches. Overall, only Ricky Ponting (11), Steve Smith (10) and Greg Chappell (10) have more Test tons at home as captain than Kohli.
10 – This hundred brought an end to Kohli’s streak of 10 innings in Test cricket without a hundred. This is Kohli’s longest streak in the longer format without a hundred since the start of 2016.

19 – Number of hundreds as captain in Test cricket for Virat Kohli; the joint 2nd most Test tons for any captain. Graeme Smith has scored as many as 25 hundreds as South Africa’s Test skipper while Ricky Ponting also scored 19 tons as an Australian captain.
40 – Virat Kohli has scored 40 hundreds as captain of India in International cricket. He is only behind Ricky Ponting who has 41 International tons as skipper.
138 – Innings Kohli needed for his 26th century in Test cricket; the 4th fewest innings taken by any player for 26th Test ton. Sir Donald Bradman got there in only 69 innings while Steve Smith and Sachin Tendulkar scored their respective 26th Test century in 121 and 136 innings.
