India vs South Africa: Rain might play spoilsport in the first Test in Visakhapatnam

South Africa is fully prepared to open its campaign of the ICC Test Championship. Proteas are one of the three teams that are still due to open their account in the inaugural season of the Test league. Virat Kohli and Co. are going to host them for a three-match Test series after the conclusion of the T20I campaign. The guests will be led by Faf du Plessis in this format, although it will be a tough task for the visitors to beat India on their own soil.

During the T20I series, both the teams showcased some beautiful display of cricket but now they will have to lock their horns against each other in the longest format of this game, but there is some bad news for the fans ahead of the match which will be played in Vishakapatnam on 2nd October.

It looks like rain might play a vital role in the 1st Test as the chances of rain are on all the five days of the match. Earlier, the warm-up game between South Africa and Board President’s XI in Vizianagaram which is not very far from Vishakapatnam was affected by rain. The day one of the three-day game went washed out without a single delivery being bowled whereas the game of the 2nd day got delayed due to wet outfield.

India defeated SA in home Test series in 2015-16

Team India will strongly approach South Africa in this Test series so as to make their position strong who are currently on the top of the table in the Test championship. This is the first India Test tour for South Africa in the last three years. India had won their last series in this format on its home ground by 3-0 back in 2015-16.

After the conclusion of the World Cup, India took a tour to West Indies where they ended up winning the Test series by 2-0, this helped them in grabbing full points in the league table of Test championship. After the Test in Vishakapatnam, the series will be followed by the matches in Pune and Ranchi on 10th and 19th October respectively. India currently ranks on the top in Tests whereas South Africa can be spotted on the third position in the ranking table.
