Shahbaz Nadeem surprisingly made his Test debut in Ranchi after being called up as cover for Kuldeep Yadav. Bowling for the first time for his country, the cricketer would’ve been nervous but it didn’t let it disturb him on the field. When he got the ball in the hand late on the second day, Nadeem bowled tighter lines to keep the batsmen. And on Monday morning, he managed to flummox Temba Bavuma to register his maiden international wicket.
Playing at his home ground, Nadeem didn’t give any run in the first three overs of his spell. He kept on beating Bavuma’s bat who was struggling against spin. However, the left-arm spinner got his number in the 29th over of South Africa’s innings. Bavuma shimmied down the track to tackle the turn.
However, Shahbaz Nadeem cleverly pulled back his length. The batsman couldn’t reach to the pitch of the ball and by the time, Bavuma brought his bat down in defence, the red cherry sharply turned. Wriddhiman Saha behind the stumps collected the ball cleanly and stumped him. Bavuma desperately tried to return to the crease but it was too late for him.
Shahbaz Nadeem bagged his maiden Test wicket with a dream delivery for the left-arm spinner and he would be hoping to pick more wickets for his team.

Shahbaz Nadeem supports Jadeja well
South Africa lost their skipper Faf du Plessis in the first over of the day itself. But then Zubayr Hamza and Temba Bavuma launched a counterattack on the home team. The former looked impressive during his stay in the middle. They attacked India’s premier spinner Ravi Ashwin and forced Virat Kohli to take him out of the attack. But after Shahbaz Nadeem was introduced, the run-scoring came down.
He along with Ravindra Jadeja bowled well and kept things tight. This worked wonders for India as both the set batsmen were dismissed in back to back overs to leave South Africa reeling. India are the favourites to clinch this game as well and win the series 3-0.
