India vs West Indies, 2nd T20I Stats Review: Rishabh Pant, Virat Kohli take India to 100th T20I win
India became the second team after Pakistan to reach 100 T20I wins landmark.
Virat Kohli finally came back into form as he and Rishabh Pant scored half-centuries to help India post a massive total of 186/5, subsequently winning the second T20I and the series against West Indies. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also shone with the ball as he gave away just four runs in the penultimate over to seal the deal for the hosts. India won the match by eight runs to clinch the series 2-0 with one game in hand.
Speaking about how the second match panned out, West Indies won the toss and opted to bat first with Jason Holder replacing Fabian Allen. Unchanged India lost Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma for two and 19 runs respectively. Former skipper Kohli finally struck form in the series as he scored his 30th T20 international fifty. Pant played a blitz innings of 28-balls 52 as remained not out with Venkatesh Iyer also playing a crucial knock of 33 runs.
Chasing 187, Brandon King mustered just 22 runs off 30 balls before giving away his wicket to Ravi Bishnoi. Then began the Nicholas Pooran-Rovman Powell show with both smashing eight sixes in between them to reach their respective half-centuries. Bhuvneshwar Kumar held his nerve and finally took the wicket of dangerous Pooran in the 19th over for 62. Powell remained unbeaten on 68 as India survived the scare of both power-hitters to win the series 2-0 with the dead rubber set to be played on Sunday, February 20. Pant was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his quickfire innings of 52.
