India vs West Indies, 3rd ODI: Match Preview, Playing XI and broadcast details
Having already lost the series, the West Indies will look to post a morale-boosting win in the final ODI.
The West Indies have been outplayed in the three-match ODI series against India. The visitors have already conceded a 0-2 lead to the Indian side in the series, and have not stepped up to the challenge.
The batters especially have produced below-par performances for the ‘Men in Maroon’ in this series. In both matches, the West Indies have failed to cross the 200-run mark, and have also failed to last their full quota of 50 overs.
In the 2nd ODI, the West Indian bowlers did a good job and restricted the Indian side to a total of 237/9. However, their batters lasted only 46 overs, not a single willow wielder could score a half-century, and the visitors fell short by 44 runs.
For India, they will be extremely impressed with Prasidh Krishna. Krishna bowled one of the best spells in recent memory and tied up the batters with his compelling line and length. And, Krishna conceded a miserly 12 runs in his 9-over spell and more importantly picked up 4 wickets to rattle the West Indies batters.
Also, Suryakumar Yadav has shown that he is a batter who can be trusted in the long run. Yadav walked in with India in trouble at 43/3 and stitched together a match-winning partnership of 91 runs for the 4th wicket with KL Rahul. He scored a timely 64 to bail his side out of trouble.
So, having already lost the series, the West Indies will look to post a morale-boosting win ahead of the three-match T20I series that will follow the ODI series. On the other hand, India will look to whitewash the ‘Men in Maroon’.
Pitch and Conditions
The key to scoring runs on this surface is to spend time out in the middle. The pitch will also offer turn for the spinners, and the only way for the batters to emerge on top is through being patient.
