Though West Indies showed a much better fight in the second ODI match of the series, they are now out of the series, having lost the encounter by 44 runs. India, who came from a disastrous tour in South Africa, have arrived back at home in a grand fashion. They have sealed the series 2-0 with two comfortable wins despite a struggling top-order, the veterans not in best of form, and runs conceded to the tail-enders.

Rohit Sharma lost the toss in the second ODI as stand-in skipper Nicholas Pooran chose to field. After being put to bat, India were in some bother after losing Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, and Virat Kohli quickly. But it was the pair of KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav who shared a vital 91-run partnership to ensure India have a decent total, even if further damage was done. India score a total of 237/9, which means their bowlers would be tested this time.

All six Indian bowlers took at least one wicket at the centre of Prasidh Krishna, the Player of the Match who took 4 wickets for just 12 runs in the nine overs he bowled. Not just the wickets he has taken but his economy rate of just 1.33 was significant to control the run scoring and add to the pressure even in a small target chase.

Here’s a list of important stats ahead of the third ODI between India and West Indies.

1 – Rohit Sharma needs to hit 1 more six to overtake MS Dhoni and become the player with most sixes for India in home ODIs. Currently both are tied with 116 sixes each.

15 – Virat Kohli needs to score 15 more runs to overtake Allan Border and become the second-highest run-scorer in ODIs against West Indies. Jacques Kallis with 4120 runs against West Indies tops the chart.

1Rohit Sharma (at 15) needs one more fifty-plus score to overtake Sachin Tendulkar and become the player with joint second-mostfifty-plus scores in ODIs against West Indies. He will be tied with Jacques Kallis, at 16. Only Virat Kohli has more fifty-plus knocks, with 20.

37 – Rohit needs to score 37 more runs to become the Indian player with second most runs in home international matches against West Indies, overtaking Sachin Tendulkar (1687). The highest in this chart is Virat Kohli, with 1896 runs.
