India vs Windies, 2018: 3rd ODI – Statistical Highlights
All the stats and numbers that were recorded during Windies’ first win of the tour.
Windies levelled the five-match ODI series as they bundled out India to just 240 while defending their total of 283/9 in the third ODI game. Batting first Shai Hope anchored the Windies innings with a 113-ball 95 before Ashley Nurse made a quick-fire 22-ball 40 to push their total over 280.
The Indian chase was guided by yet another century from skipper Virat Kohli but the hosts couldn’t put together a big partnership which hurt their chances in the game. Kohli departed when his team needed 64 more runs leaving a weak lower-order with the task to climb a mountain.
All the stats and numbers that were recorded during Windies’ first win of the tour:
1 – Virat Kohli became the first Indian to score three consecutive centuries in ODI cricket. Overall, he is the 10th player to score a hat-trick of ODI hundreds. He is also the first captain to score three consecutive ODI centuries.

3 – Virat now has scored three centuries in a bilateral ODI series for the second time. He scored three 100s during the six-match ODI series in South Africa this year. He is the only Indian player to hit three tons in a bilateral ODI series.
6 – His hundred in this game is only the 6th to end in a losing cause and the second at home. Only three of the six were in an unsuccessful chase with this 107 being his first in such games at home.
12 – Windies hit as many as 12 sixes during this game which is the second most by them in an ODI against India. They hit a total of 13 sixes in the 2011 Chennai ODI. Windies hit 11 sixes in the previous game in Vizag.
16 – Number of sixes Shimron Hetmyer has hit in this series thus far. These are the joint-most number of sixes hit by any player for Windies in a bilateral ODI series. Kieron Pollard also hit 16 sixes during the five-match home ODI series against Australia in 2012.
19 – For the first time in 19 instances, India have failed to chase down a target less than 300 in an ODI. Since failing to chase 190 in the Antigua ODI also against Windies last year, India won 17 of the previous 18 ODI chases where the target was less than 300.
The game against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup ended in a Tie. In this span, India were chasing a total of 300+ on three occasions in which they lost two and won one.
107 – Kohli’s 107 is the first ODI ton by an Indian captain in an unsuccessful run-chase. The previous highest individual score in an unsuccessful ODI chase by an Indian captain was only 93.
It was Mohammad Azharuddin against Australia in the 1992 Brisbane ODI and Sachin Tendulkar against Pakistan in the 2000 Hobart ODI scored 93 apiece. The unbeaten 157 in the previous game by Kohli was the first ton by an Indian captain in a tied ODI.
