India are already leading the five-match ODI series by 1-0 and going into the second game in Visakhapatnam, the Windies will be under pressure. Meanwhile, the BCCI has announced the same 12-man squad for the next encounter as well and most probably will be playing the same XI. Virat Kohli was keen on giving the players a longer rope and the bowling attack which leaked runs on a flat pitch will get another chance to stake their claim.
The hosts though will have to decide over including Kuldeep Yadav as India lacked the X-factor in the middle overs and went on to concede 322 runs in Guwahati. One of the fast bowlers then might make way for the chinaman bowler in that case. As of now, if Kohli’s statement after the first match is to be believed, the Men in Blue are most likely to field an unchanged side on Wednesday.
What about Windies?
As far as the visitors are concerned, they will ponder over a couple of changes it seems. Their bowlers looked deflated after starting impressively on Sunday and the pace attack of comprising Oshane Thomas, Kemar Roach including the skipper Jason Holder himself is set to play. One of the spinners, Ashely Nurse or Devendra Bishoo, might be benched after the way they were taken apart by Rohit and Kohli.
However, the pitch at Visakhapatnam is known to turn in the evening and it will be a dicey call to drop the tweakers. The batsmen did well though who were led by Shimron Hetmyer with a sensational century. The others also should take a leaf out of his book and make India sweat to earn every wicket and if it happens, then the second ODI will be a humdinger.
If the Caribbean side doesn’t put up a decent show in this game and make a comeback, one will feel that even the ODI series will be a one-sided affair.
India’s 12-man squad: Virat Kohli (C), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, Rishabh Pant, MS Dhoni (WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Umesh Yadav, Mohammad Shami, Khaleel Ahmed.
