India vs Windies: India has to take positive lessons from the loss, suggests Virender Sehwag
Hr also hailed the incredible effort from the Windies to stay on level terms in the series.
Virender Sehwag is no stranger to being a part of a formidable top three. During his prime days, he would open alongside Sachin Tendulkar with the likes of Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly to follow. But unlike the current crop, the dependence on the top three to score runs was not as huge as it is at this point in time.
Despite getting off to a great start in the run chase against Windies in Pune, a lackluster performance from the Indian middle order got them into a bad position and although Virat Kohli battled hard, he failed to get his side over the line. The Caribbean lads registered a 43-run win and leveled the series 1-1.
The focus now shifts to Mumbai as the former Indian opener reckons Kohli’s men should take positives from the defeat and learn from their mistakes. He suggested that there should be some minor reconstructions in the side, indirectly citing the middle order chaos which caused so much trouble in recent years when the top order failed. Sehwag also hailed the incredible effort from the Windies to stay on level terms.
“Match 3, results 3 bhinn. Wonderful effort from West Indies to win one and tie one despite Kohli’s formidable centuries. India need to sort out a few things and hope they take positive learnings from this loss,” Sehwag said via his official Twitter handle.

Another record-breaking day at the office for Kohli
The Indian skipper registered his 38th ODI century in Pune against the Windies, his first three-figure score in a losing cause whilst chasing at home. He also became the first Indian and 10th overall to score three consecutive centuries in this format. Despite all the magical stuff, he was a disappointed man as his side failed to get over the line.
Kohli became the 3rd player to score over 8000 ODI runs while batting at No.3, a feat which highlights his dominance in that position. He has a lot of things to work on but will be banking on his side to win the remaining two games and win the series.
