India vs Windies: KL Rahul sweats it out in the training sessions prior to Eden Gardens T20I
The Karnataka batsman is most likely to bat at the number three position in this series.
The coming few months are going to be very crucial for KL Rahul, who is trying hard to keep his place in the Indian limited overs setup. In both the ODI and T20I format, it seems like Rahul might have to wait for his opportunity with all positions he favours filled. His chances of making into the World Cup squad are in jeopardy as well.
This T20I series against the Windies will be challenging for the 26-year-old as this is the format the Caribbean team loves to play. The Karnataka batsman is most likely to bat at number three position in these three games, a slot left vacant after full-time skipper Virat Kohli was awarded a rest ahead of the crucial Australia tour.
This is Rahul’s big opportunity to showcase his skills against the white ball and for the first game at Eden Gardens, he is already sweating it out in the training sessions. He posted a picture on his official Twitter handle with a caption “No pain, no gain. Shut up and train.”

A high-scoring game expected at Eden Gardens
Both these sides have proven their batting talent in the ODI series and they will get another chance to do the same in the first T20I at the iconic Eden Gardens. The last time India played a T20I game at this venue was in a high-voltage World T20 game against Pakistan in the 2016 World T20.
Rohit Sharma, the interim Indian captain, will be handing some maiden caps on Sunday. Krunal Pandya and Khaleel Ahmed have been named in the 12-man squad, which leaves the Vijay Hazare star Shahzad Nadeem on the bench. Dinesh Karthik and Manish Pandey find themselves in the 12-man squad as well.
India will be entering this game with their best bowling unit despite resting a couple of big names in the batting lineup. As it stands, Khaleel Ahmed and Yuzvendra Chahal will be fighting for final playing eleven spot.
