MS Dhoni is undoubtedly one of the strongest cricketers still in the circuit, and when he hits the ball, there are few boundaries that can contain it. Hailed as one of the best finishers the game has ever produced, a bulk of Dhoni’s runs in the death overs have come off boundaries and monstrous sixes that have crashed into the roof of many a stadium. There’s perhaps not a single cricket fan who has forgotten his iconic six over mid-wicket off Nuwan Kulasekara which brought the coveted World Cup back home after 28 years.

On Wednesday, as India took on the Windies in the 2nd ODI in Vishakhapatnam, Dhoni gave million of his fans a glimpse of his six-hitting capability. After all, it was in Vizag that the long-haired MSD had brought up his maiden ODI hundred, destroying a Pakistan bowling attack which was left clueless as to how to bowl to the Ranchi lad.

Two mates having fun out in the middle

But while the former skipper deposited the ball into the stands only on one occasion on Wednesday, what was most amusing was his cute reaction right after he executed the stroke. In the 38th over, shortly after captain Virat Kohli had joined him in the 10K club, Dhoni took on Marlon Samuels, launching the ball into the afternoon sky.

It was a massive straight hit that sailed over the bowler’s head, but it looked as though the bat had turned in Dhoni’s hands. MS had a sheepish little grin on his face as he walked over to Kohli to punch gloves. It was wonderful to see two greats of the game just having a bit of fun out in the middle.

Watch Dhoni’s reaction here:

He was eventually dismissed for 20, handing Obed McCoy a memorable maiden wicket. Nevertheless, his partner at the other end went ballistic as he brought up his 37th ODI century – his second hundred on the trot – and propelled India to 322 in the first innings.

Virat himself remained unbeaten on 157. But the Windies proved that they are no average team. They were helped by Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope to make it even-steven. India thus had a second tie in their last 4 ODIs. They, however, lead the 5-match series 1-0.
