India vs Windies: MS Dhoni takes a stunner to send back Chanderpaul Hemraj
Hemraj could only muster 15 runs.
MS Dhoni is in the news since Friday after being left out of the T20I squads against Windies and Australia. While many feel that he has been dropped due to poor performances, the chief selector MSK Prasad has already cleared that this is not the end of the veteran in the shortest format. Meanwhile, amidst all the brouhaha, Dhoni has concentrated on the game in Pune and took a stunning catch in the field to send back Chanderpaul Hemraj.
In the sixth over of the Windies innings, Jasprit Bumrah bowled a pacy bouncer to Hemraj who tried to play a pull shot only to top edge it. The ball went high in the air and was about to land in no man’s land between Dhoni and the fine-leg fielder. But the veteran wicketkeeper took it upon himself and dived full stretch to get hold of the ball.
The ball thudded into his gloves while Dhoni was in the air and the former India captain didn’t drop the ball even after falling on the ground as the chants of ‘Dhoni, Dhoni’ engulfed the stadium. Even his teammate applauded for his efforts as the Men in Blue had got an all-important breakthrough.

Dhoni continues to shine
MS Dhoni is having a field day at the office today. After taking a stunner to dismiss Hemraj, the master behind the wickets showed his capabilities in a couple of wickets as well. Khaleel Ahmed managed to eke out an edge off Marlon Samuels’ bat and Dhoni dived forward to take the catch as the ball was dying on him.
Meanwhile, Shimron Hetmyer was also looking dangerous in the middle, hitting sixes at will. But Kuldeep Yadav bluffed him by bowling a superb delivery. Hetmyer tried to heave across the line and in the process lifted his leg out of the crease which was enough for MS Dhoni to affect a brilliant stumping. The replays suggested that the batsman’s leg was on the line and hence had to go back to the dressing room.
