India have not been so good in using their reviews in any of the formats in the recent past. Even in the ongoing ODI series against Windies, they have been guilty of losing the reviews early. For a change, the master of DRS, MS Dhoni also got it wrong in Mumbai. A similar situation in the ongoing fifth and final game at the Sports Hub when Ravindra Jadeja insisted for a review. But Dhoni didn’t agree with him and yelled saying that the ball might’ve pitched outside the leg-stump.
More often than not, the bowler is interested and forces the captain to go for it. Even in the 16th over of the Windies innings, Jadeja, after the ball rapped on Shimron Hetmyer’s pads, insisted constantly to go for the review. Dhoni was adamant this time being cautious about not wasting a review and yelled at his teammate.
Jaddu trumps Dhoni
Ravindra Jadeja, however, still insisted Virat Kohli to go for a review and the captain, after an animated discussion, decided to go for it with a smile on his face. As far as the delivery is concerned, coming round the wicket, pitched the ball short in line with the stumps and Hetmyer looked to defend it on the backfoot. However, he got into the tangle only for the ball to hit his front pad.
The Hawkeye, to everyone’s delight, showed that it was hitting the stumps and there was a huge roar in the Stadium. MS Dhoni was also all smiles as Team India celebrated the big wicket of Hetmyer. For a change, Jadeja had proved Dhoni wrong in opting for the review.
As far as the match situation is concerned, India are completely bossing the game. Windies, after opting to bat first, are in disarray as they have lost five wickets. Jason Holder is once again left with the tough job to do. It will be interesting to see how many runs they will post on the board in order to challenge the home side.
