Seldom do we find cricketers score a century on their debut. And achieving this sort of a feat at a tender age of 18 seems to be an improbable task for many. Forget scoring a century, we hardly find a player making his debut in his teen years particularly in a country like India. But, young Prithvi Shaw is something special.
He has had this ‘Midas touch’ thus far in his career. The great Sachin Tendulkar predicted that this Mumbai batsman would play for India long while ago. Burdening these huge expectations, Shaw made his Test debut in the 1st game against the Windies. His dream run continued in international cricket as well as he scored 134 runs right in his first ever international innings.
‘I am a member of the team and rely on it’
Prithvi Shaw was flooded with wishes across the social media after the dream start to his career. The fans, present and former cricketers, as well as the critics, drenched him in praise. It took quite a while for the fourth-youngest Test debutant to score a century to soak in all the applause.
On Friday, he took it to his social media to thank the fans and the teammates for the support that he has got. He stated that he was a complete team-man. He wrote that he defers to the teams and sacrifices for the same, as in the end, cricket is all about the eleven men who are on the field. Shaw further wrote that he lives for the applause that he receives from his colleagues.
‘I am a member of a team, and I rely on the team,I defer to it and sacrifice for it,because the team, not the individual,is the ultimate champion. THIS IS WHAT I LIVE & PLAY FOR…MY Teammate APPLAUSE❤️❤️ And Thankyou each and everyone for your love for your support and blessings and for your lovely msges❤️👍#specialmoment#testdebut#💯,’ he tweeted.
