To win any match, a team needs to be at its potential best on the field. Having said that, there’s a lot that comes into play- the pitch, the playing conditions, the crowd support and the toss. Winning the toss allows the team to play in their comfort zone. Though it’s advantageous depending upon the conditions, in no way does it guarantee the side a win.
When it comes to Virat Kohli, he isn’t great at winning tosses. If you go back to the England series, the Indian skipper lost all five tosses during the Test matches. However, that was a couple of months ago. Right now, the sun is rising at its rightful place for Kohli. The bat is flowing runs and the toss is favouring him.
Another feather in the hat for Virat
As the Men in Blue gear up for the final hurdle in the ODI series, Kohli stands a chance to complete a unique distinction. Having won all four tosses against the Windies in the ongoing One Dayers so far, Kohli has a chance of completing the series without losing a single toss. That will make him the first ever Indian captain to win all tosses in a home bilateral series.
Thus, Virat Kohli has a great chance of adding another leaf to his records book. Recently, he completed the 10,000 run milestone in One Day Internationals and became the fastest to do so. The previous record was held by Sachin Tendulkar who took 53 innings more than Kohli. The Indian skipper also became only the second batsman after MS Dhoni to score 10,000 with an average of 50 plus.
The current series has been quite intriguing for both the teams. India won the last game dominating in all departments. But they’ll be aware of the threat imposed by Jason Holder’s men. The first three matches were a sublime example of the firepower Windies boast in their ranks. They’ll be looking forward to square the series as India seek to win the series.
