India will continue to maintain their World Cup record against Pakistan: Abdul Razzaq
India have never lost to Pakistan in the 50-over and 20-over World Cups.
Abdul Razzaq, the former Pakistan all-rounder feels that India will continue to dominate Pakistan in the ICC tournaments as their players fail to absorb the pressure of the high profile games due to which the team has to face its repercussions.
It is a well-known fact that India hold an edge against Pakistan in the World Cups. The latter has never won a single game in the mega-event against the Men in Blue. In the year 1992, they managed to win the World Cup for the first time. However, they also lost a match against Team India in the group stage. The same trend is being followed in the next century as Team India has maintained its unbeaten record against the Men in Green in the showpiece event.
Abdul Razzaq clarifies why Pakistan lose to Team India in World Cup
In a recent interview, Razzaq said that Team India will continue to maintain its record in the mega event. He also highlighted that both the countries rarely face each other in the knockout stages. As per him, Pakistan always lock horns with their arch-rivals in the league stage where their players fail to absorb the pressure and end up losing the match.
“India will continue to maintain that record. It is rare that India and Pakistan play each other in knock-out matches of ICC events. They mostly play in the league stage and India are favourites. Our players are not able to absorb the pressure that comes with this game,” the 40-year-old said as quoted by Hindustan Times.
Abdul Razzaq also recalled an instance from the 2011 World Cup when the players in the team took a lot of pressure. Moreover, they were not confident of defeating Team India in the semi-finals and lost their best chance of defeating the arch-rivals in the mega event according to former Pakistan all-rounder.
“The pressure builds on the players though it is like any other match. The players are not confident about beating India in World Cup,” he said, adding Pakistan had the best chance of beating India in the 2011 edition.”
