So, the Indian Women’s cricket team will embark on a journey to the land of the kangaroos to take on the Australian Women’s side. The ‘Women in Blue’ will start their Australian trip by playing a three-match ODI series, that will begin on 19th September 2021.
The next 2 ODIs will be played on 22nd and 24th September respectively. The ODI series will be followed by a one-off Test match between India and Australia that will start on 30th September 2021. The WACA in Perth will play host to the Test match, and it will be a Day-Night affair.
After the Test match, India and Australia will lock horns in a three-match T20I series, with the first T20I slated to be played on 7th October 2021. The 2nd and 3rd T20Is will be played on 9th and 11th October respectively.
“India is up for the challenge,” says Meg Lanning
Australian skipper and batting behemoth Meg Lanning stated that the Australian side would love to play more Test matches. She also added that the Indian side will play Test cricket against England and will be ready for the challenge to play any format of the game when they visit Australian shores.
“As players, we’ve said for a long time that we’d love to play more Test matches. It’s an exciting prospect and I know (India) are heading over to England to play a Test match pretty soon so it shows they’re up for the challenge and really willing to play that format,” said Meg Lanning as quoted by the official website of Cricket Australia.
Before heading to Australia, India will embark on another challenging assignment in the month of June, and play a full-fledged series against England on England soil. The series against England will commence on 16th June 2021, with a one-off Test match. After that, both sides will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. India’s tour of England will conclude on 15th July 2021.
While veteran cricketer Mithali Raj has been named as the captain of the Women’s side for the tour of England, Harmanpreet Kaur has been named as Mithali Raj’s deputy.
