India Women will be locking horns with South Africa in Match 28 of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on March 27. This is a must-win contest for India as a win here will take them through to the semis while a loss would send them packing.

The Indian eves are currently placed at the fifth spot in the points table, having won three and lost as many from the six matches they have played. Even a draw would help their cause as they will be in the top four replacing the West Indies who have a negative net run rate of -0.890. The Mithali Raj-led side handed a huge 110-run loss to Bangladesh in their last game.

South Africa, on the other hand, have already sealed a semifinal berth and in fact, became the second team to qualify for after the mighty Australians who have been undefeated so far in the tournament. The Proteas have been on a roll in this World Cup despite not having the services of Dan van Niekerk who was ruled out after suffering a fractured ankle earlier this year. They have only suffered one loss in the competition, which came against the Aussies by five wickets. South Africa’s last fixture against the West Indies ended in a no-result as rain played spoilsport.
