Indian bowlers who led the bowling attack of their team in IPL 10

Mumbai Indians beat Rising Pune Supergiant by just 1 run in a low scoring thriller at Hyderabad to be crowned IPL champions for the third time in five years. MI defended a meagre 129 due to the herculean effort by their bowlers who were on the money right from the word go. Even the bowlers of RPS had to be lauded as they bowled magnificently against one of the best batting lineups in the tournament.

In a way, the final summed up the way this six-week extravaganza has progressed. This season, the bowlers had their say in most of the matches. Out of 60 matches, 25 times the bowler from the winning side won the Man of the Match award this year which is the most in any season. This had to do a lot with the long home season and tiring wickets towards the end of the season. But bowlers had to be credited for their performances as the Gentleman’s game is dominated by the batsmen these days.

The most heartening thing of this year’s IPL was that the Indian bowlers put their hands up for their respective sides and made winning contributions in crunch moments. While there are a lot of encouraging performances from most of the Indian bowlers, we pick those who were consistent throughout the season and led the bowling attack for their side.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

Undoubtedly, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the best bowler of the tenth season of IPL. Right from the start of the tournament he was the undisputed king of the purple cap and held onto it till the end though his team was eliminated in the playoffs. Bhuvneshwar was the go-to bowler for his captain and bowled in both, the powerplays and the death overs. One can say that he defended his purple cap as he was the leading wicket-taker last year as well.

Bhuvneshwar scalped 26 wickets in 14 matches and conceded runs at an economy of just over 7 which is highly commendable given the fact that he completed full quota of his overs in almost every game. He has looked confident than ever this year and was ready to take on that extra responsibility for his side. The resurgent Bhuvneshwar is a very good prospect for India for champions trophy and also for the upcoming seasons.
