The game of cricket has seen a lot of transitions in the recent years which also includes the use of the latest technologies to revolutionize the game. Cricket was started as a sport initially by the Brits and for years Test cricket was the only format in the game, which was then followed by the limited-overs format with 60-overs and then the 50-overs contests.

And now as the world and the majority of cricket fanatics are quite used to the latest Twenty20 format of the game, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has found a new addition to it, which is the 100-ball format. The ECB’s newly introduced 100-ball version of the game will be starting with an eight-team tournament beginning in 2020.

In the latest contest, the teams will be facing each other in a match of 15 overs of six deliveries each and an extra over which will contain 10 deliveries. The Indian team skipper Virat Kohli who is currently in England for the five-match Test series revealed his views on the latest 100-ball format introduced by the ECB.

I seriously cannot think of one more format

Kohli has been a pivotal part of this Indian team and more importantly, his hunger to score runs for his side has been the major reason for Team India’s rise in international cricket across the three formats in the recent years. During a recent conversation, Kohli stated that the upcoming 100-ball tournament seems to be an exciting addition for all those people who are involved with it.

The busy player at the same time also mentioned that he cannot even think of playing another format of the game. “Obviously for the people involved in the whole process and the set-up it will be really exciting but I cannot think of one more format, to be honest,” said Kohli in a conversation with Wisden.

The Indian skipper reckoned that it will be very difficult or rather very much demanding for players to play so much of cricket so constantly. “I am very … I wouldn’t say frustrated but it can get very demanding of you when you have to play so much cricket. I feel the commercial aspect is taking over the real quality of the cricket and that hurts me,” added the Indian captain.
