Anyone who follows the game of cricket won’t hand you a brownie point for guessing the richest cricket board in the world right now. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the national governing body for cricket in the country and is also the richest cricket body in the world. Needless to say that the Indian cricketers too rake in the moolah, and why not? They have been near to invincible under the leadership of Virat Kohli.

The Men in Blue had an outstanding home season last year and they extended the same by defeating Australia at home this year. Apart from the Champions Trophy final defeat against arch-rival Pakistan, Kohli’s men hardly missed on sealing a deal across all the three formats and therefore the annual player contracts got an upgrade.

The Annual Retainer amounts have been enhanced for each of the categories and the likes of skipper Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin among the others are the biggest gainers. Let’s take a look at the list of contracted Indian cricketers and their salaries:

1. Mahendra Singh Dhoni- 2 Crore:

Former Indian captain MS Dhoni still calls the shots in the limited-overs format of the game and has a very strong working relationship with Kohli, the designated Indian captain. Dhoni has been in the top bracket for long and still continues to pocket an impressive package. On the field, he is lightning quick behind the stumps and one of the most successful finishers with the bat.

2. Virat Kohli- 2 Crore:

Described as the ‘Indian cricket phenom’ by Forbes on being the only sportsperson from Indian to feature among world’s 100 highest paid athletes, Kohli surely knows how to earn the praises and the bucks. Last year the Indian skipper made close to USD 1 million in salary and match fees. This time around too, one of the modern greats shines as an A-lister.

3. Ravichandran Ashwin- 2 Crore

The spin spearhead of the Indian cricket team may be out of favour in limited-overs cricket but Ravichandran Ashwin continues to be one of the ‘top-brass cricketer’ when it comes to BCCI’s Annual Player’s Contracts. Ashwin was phenomenal during India’s successful eight consecutive Test series wins and is very much India’s scheme of things when it comes to the longest format of the game. His performance with the bat has only added to his overall skill-set in whites and helped him earn the ICC Player of the year award in 2016.
