Indian cricketers pay tribute to martyrs of 26/11 Mumbai attacks

It has been 13 years since the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai had shaken the city altogether. Even after years of the unfortunate incident, the memories of it are still vivid in the hearts of many even today. Thus remembering the Bravehearts who lost their lives on this day 13 years ago, India’s ODI and Test skipper Virat Kohli has paid tribute to them.
The terror attack in Mumbai goes down as one of the most deadly incidents the city has witnessed. Almost 165 people including quite a few foreign citizens lost their lives on this day back in 2008. Along with many all around the country, the cricketing fraternity has also come forward to remember the Bravehearts who lost their lives in the terror attacks.
Virat Kohli pens down a heartfelt message
Kohli took it to his official Twitter account to pen down a heartfelt message. He wrote, “We will never forget this day, we will never forget the lives lost. Sending my prayers to the friends and families who lost their loved ones.”
Quite a few police officials who battled hard to save the lives of the citizens also lost their lives in the Mumbai attack. The then Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare, Army Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Senior Police Inspector Vijay Salaskar, Mumbai’s Additional Police Commissioner Ashok Kamte, and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Tukaram Omble were some of them who were martyred whilst protecting the city.
Taking into consideration their sacrifices, former India cricketer Virender Sehwag also shared a Tweet. “13 years since the sad day. He is one of the greatest sons of our soil- Shaheed Tukaram Omble. The courage, the presence of mind, and the selflessness demonstrated by him on that day- no words, no awards can do justice. Dandavat pranam hai aise mahaan insaan ko,” his Tweet read.
Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar who belongs to the city also paid his heartfelt tribute to the ones who lost their lives. “It was a heartbreaking and painful time, but the spirit shown by everyone is what makes us stronger. My heartfelt tribute to all the brave hearts we lost during 26/11. Always in our prayers 🙏,” Tendulkar tweeted.
Gautam Gambhir also shared a picture from that day and wrote,” This needed retaliation not dossiers! #MumbaiAttack.”
