Indian cricketers venture their Independence Day wishes through Twitter
Cricketers like Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh acknowledged the hardships of the Indian army.
The calendar says today (Tuesday) is the 15th of August, 2017, which means that today India is celebrating the 71st Independence Day. All the natives of India, no matter what they do or where they come from, stand strong in unity and convey their Independence Day wishes. Cricketers hold a special place in the hearts of the people and thus on the special occasion most of them put out wishes for their fellow Indians on Twitter.
The game is not restricted to being just a sport for the fanatics, they use the success of the Indian cricket team as a social symbol of their grandiosity. The cricket team very recently has provided them with a golden opportunity to be proud by whitewashing Sri Lanka 3-0 in the Test series in the island nation.
Former and current cricketers from both the men’s and women’s team posted their message on what independence means to them. Indian legendary opener Virender Sehwag wrote “Remembering our freedom fighters,soldiers &everyone who made this possible.May we have freedom from poverty & hatred #IndependenceDayIndia.”
Indian spin ace Ravichandran Ashwin’s tweet read- “We are 70 and getting stronger by the day. Happy 70 to all Indians across the globe #Independence #august15th.” Suresh Raina conveyed that he is proud of being an Indian, by tweeting “Proud to be a part of a glorious nation.. May the Indian tricolor always fly high. #HappyIndependanceDay #IndependenceDayIndia #Freedom70.”
Some veteran cricketers like Harbhajan Singh and Gautam Gambhir uploaded videos. While the turbanator acknowledged the efforts and sacrifices of the Indian army, Gambhir came with a very important message which said “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country!”
