We’ve seen it a few times in other sporting arenas, in the US and other parts of the world but it was only for the second time during an India cricket that a fan popped the question at the stadium. An Indian fan took the grand occasion of the India vs Pakistan World Cup 2019 match to propose to his prospective life partner. It was the one sporting event that the world was watching, and fortunately for him, the proposal was accepted.

They were seated in the stands and clad in blue, though there is little detail available on what point of the game he chose to go down on his knee, could’ve been while the Pakistan team was batting. It was a well-disguised effort as his girlfriend wasn’t really expecting it at the stadium in the middle of thousands and had no clue of his intentions.

Anvita J the one who got probably the biggest surprise of her life shared the video on her Twitter account where her boyfriend got down and asked if she would marry him. She, of course, accepted it and then he pulled out the ring and there they were with over a billion people witnessing the game, engaged.

Here is the video that Anvita posted:

Not just in the stands but overall things went pretty well for the Indian supporters as the Men in Blue dominated the proceedings throughout. After being asked to bat first, Team India powered by Rohit Sharma and his opening partner KL Rahul were set up for a massive total. While Rohit got to his 24th ODI hundred Rahul also produced a half century. Skipper Virat Kohli’s 77 and a useful cameo from Hardik Pandya powered the team to 336/5 in 50 overs.

Pakistan’s response had to be really powerful for them to eclipse that target against a strong Indian bowling attack. They did get off to a good start but Imam-ul-Haq fell to a rather unlikely bowler in Vijay Shankar. Thereafter, Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman did stitch a partnership worth over hundred runs to lend spine to the innings but once Kuldeep Yadav tasted blood, he struck twice to send both of them back in the hut.

Then on it was a catch-up act for Pakistan and in the end, they fell short of the target by 89 runs as per the DLS method.
