Indian fans lash out at Fox Sports for questioning KL Rahul's catch
Rahul stayed low to grab a sensational catch.
India’s Australia tour can never be without controversy. The ongoing Adelaide Test had everything in it. There was a banter going on between the players from both the sides and there was competitiveness as well. But what is an India-Australia game without a controversy? Fox Sports just tried to create one such instance by questioning if KL Rahul’s match-winning catch was clean to be ruled out.
The 120th over of Australia’s second innings saw the end of a rather eventful Test match. The fifth ball of the over was nicely looped up by Ravi Ashwin to tease Josh Hazlewood. The batsman was floored and went for the drive and was done for the turn. The ball took the edge of his bat and went straight into the second slip Rahul’s hand where he was standing low to grab the catch.
There was elation in one camp and the two batsmen on the field were left dejected as Nathan Lyon and Hazlewood had denied India the glory wicket for 66 deliveries. However, nobody questioned the catch with even Nigel Llong confirming with his naked eye before approving that it was out.
Indians fans not happy
While the Indian fans were delighted that their team had finally managed to win in Australia and that too the first game of the series, Fox Sports’ video raising questions on the catch hs irked them a lot. It could be clearly seen in the video that though the ball was low, Rahul firmly had his fingers under it to claim the catch.
Moreover, Hazlewood was the one who was so close to all the action and didn’t even bother challenging it which makes it clear that there was nothing in it to even doubt. But the official broadcaster trying to create controversy out of it has not taken in good taste by the fans as they have thrashed them.
