Indian fans overawed by Shahid Afridi's gesture for the Indian flag

Former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi is arguably one of the most popular Pakistani cricketers in the world at the moment. His fan following was pretty much evident when he took the cricket field, albeit of a different kind, recently. The veteran Pakistani all-rounder  participated in the first ever competitive cricket game played on the ice track recently. Afridi captained the Royals in the St. Moritz Ice Cricket competition.

The cricket of a unique kind was there to witness for all and the fans absolutely loved it. Some of the biggest names of the world cricket took part in the competition. This list included the likes of Shoaib Akhtar, Jacques Kallis, Mohammad Kaif, Virender Sehwag, and many more. Also, the first couple of matches of the tournament have already provided enough moments of brilliance for the fans to be overawed about.

From Sehwag’s quickfire knocks, to Grant Elliot’s funny effort to run out Mike Hussey, the sparse crowd gathered at the venue enjoyed every moment. While the on-field action was expected to set the stage lit, the off-field actions have also managed to bag the headlines. During the matches, the cricketers were seen interacting with the fans quite a lot.

The players obliged by clicking pictures with the fans and gave them autographs. Among the many such instances, the one that has caught the attention of the fans is the sweet gesture shown by Shahid Afridi. Although Afridi did not have a great time with the bat, he certainly won hearts with his gesture after the game. The Indian fans, in particular, went gaga about the gesture that Afridi showed.

Talking about the incident, Afridi was walking on the boundary lines after the game. The fans kept calling him for clicking selfies and getting autographs. Shahid Afridi was happy to oblige. He soon came across an Indian fan who was holding an Indian flag in her hand. However, the fan did not unfurl the flag. Seeing this, Afridi was quick to ask her to unfurl her flag straight and then click the picture.
