Indian fans troll Mitchell Johnson for tweeting about the rain forecast on Day 5
There is a forecast of thunderstorm in Melbourne on Sunday.
Australia’s lower-order once again troubled India in the ongoing Boxing Day Test at the MCG. Pat Cummins slammed a half-century late of the fourth day only to deny the glory for the visitors as he and Nathan Lyon held the fort for close to 14 overs and took the game into the final day. There is a forecast of rain in Melbourne and the hosts are hoping for the same even as India look confident to wrap things up in the morning session itself.
After setting the target of 399 runs, India were all over Australia until Tea picking wickets at the regular intervals. Shaun Marsh tried his best by scoring 44 runs and once again, none of the batters kicked on after getting promising starts like the first innings. However, at 157/6, Australia looked like going down meekly but Cummins had other ideas.
He stitched crucial partnerships with Tim Paine and then Mitchell Starc to keep the opposition bowlers at bay. He didn’t deter despite the wickets falling at the other end.
Johnson tries to motivate
Confident Indians opted for an extra half hour in order to clean up the tail but they failed to remove the determined Lyon and Cummins. The former Australian cricketer Mitchell Johnson, in the meantime, got excited and tried to motivate the two batters in the middle. He also hoped for a rain on the fifth day which is the forecast in Melbourne on Sunday.
There is also a possibility of thunderstorms which has kept the hosts hopeful and Johnson also felt the same. “C’mon, get through the day lads!! #rainalldaytomorrow,” he tweeted. However, the Indian fans trolled the former Aussie speedster while one of the fans also reflected over how things have changed dramatically in the Australian cricket over the last few months.
