Indian journalist asks an awkward question; Imam-ul-Haq has a cheeky reply
The reply somewhat embarrassed the journalist.
Imam-ul-Haq is de facto the nephew of legendary Pakistani cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq, who garnered a number of laurels during his playing career for the national team. The former batsman was known for racking runs without much fuss, however, he was also renowned for his lazy elegance.
The Multan-born cricketer used to remain calm even in extreme pressure, something which helped him pile up a staggering 20,000 plus runs at the highest level. Meanwhile, the same laziness made him a contender for run-outs. In his illustrious ODI career, Inzamam got himself run-out as many as 38 times.
Earlier, one of Pakistan’s previous coaches mentioned about his penchant towards eating and sleeping. Most recently, Imam was asked by an Indian journalist whether he prefers sleeping like his uncle or not. The journo wrote, “Your uncle (Inzamam ul Haq) used to sleep a lot, do you also like to sleep like him,”
Imam didn’t get ruffled by the question by any stretch of the imagination. Rather, the talented batsman had a smart reply up his sleeve, which somewhat embarrassed the journalist. Imam reverted and wrote, “Have you slept with him?”
Here is the conversation
Imam’s glorious start to his career
Imam-ul-Haq has recently emerged as a bright prospect for Pakistan in international cricket. The 22-year-old made his debut last year in an ODI against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi and has been amongst the runs ever since. He has thus far donned the national jersey in three Tests in which he has scored 137 runs at an average of 34.25 with a top score of 74 not out against Ireland.
In nine ODIs, the left-handed batsman has notched 544 runs at an incredible average of 68. Moreover, he already has four centuries to his name. In Pakistan’s erstwhile 50-overs series against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo, the Lahore-born talent racked up 395 runs at an average of 79. To add to his delight, he will now play the 2018 Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
