The 2017 Indian Premier League season was all about some exciting games, some one-sided games, some unbelievable comebacks, some terrible batting performances, some individual brilliance and also the team effort. The final between the Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiant was a mixture of all that with MI pulling off a thriller to win the championship by 1 run margin. There were numerous numbers recorded during the tournament existed for over one and half month.

Here we have a look at the 10th season of IPL from the statistician’s eye

1 – One-run win for the Mumbai Indians in the final was the narrowest margin of win in terms of runs in this season. It is only the 8th occasion in IPL where a team won by a one-run margin.

2 – Number of 10-wicket victories in this IPL season; KKR vs GL and KXIP vs DD. There were 8 such games in the previous 9 IPL editions.

3 – Number of ducks for Shardul Thakur, Colin de Grandhomme, Glenn Maxwell and Rishabh Pant in this season; the most by any other player.

3 – Number of 5-wicket hauls in this IPL season – Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Andrew Tye and Jaydev Unadkat took one each. Only in 2011 season (4), there were more than three 5-fers.

3 – Number of hat-tricks in this IPL season; Badree, Tye and Unadkat were the players who took a hat-trick this season. Badree and Tye took hat-tricks in different games on the same day.

5 – Number of centuries scored in this IPL season. Hashim Amla hit two while Sanju Samson, David Warner and Ben Stokes hit one each.

5/17 – Andrew Tye’s 5/17 against RPS are the best bowling figures recorded in this IPL season. He did it on his IPL debut.

12 – Number of wins for Mumbai Indians in this IPL season, the joint 2nd most for any team. Rajasthan Royals in 2008 and Mumbai Indians in 2013 won 13 matches each.

15 – Number of catches taken by Kieron Pollard in this season; the most by any player. His 15 catches in this season are the 2nd most for any player in an IPL season behind AB de Villiers’ 19 in 2016.

15 – Number of wicket-keeping dismissals affected by Robin Uthappa in this season, the most by any wicket-keeper. Uthappa has taken 9 catches and affected 6 stumpings.

26 – Number of wickets taken by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in this season; the most by any player. These are also the most wickets taken by an Indian in an IPL season.

26 – Number of sixes Glenn Maxwell and David Warner hit in this season; the most by any other player.

49 – Royal Challengers Bangalore’s total of 49/10 against Kolkata Knight Riders is not only the lowest total in this season but in the history of the league as well.

126 – David Warner’s 126 vs KKR is the highest individual score in this IPL season. It is the 7th highest individual score in the IPL.

146 – Mumbai Indians’ victory margin of 146 runs over the Delhi Daredevils is not only the highest in this season but also in the entire IPL.

184* – Partnership stand between Chris Lynn and Gautam Gambhir for opening wicket for KKR vs GL; the highest stand for any wicket in this season and the 6th highest partnership for any wicket in the IPL.

230/3 – Kings XI Punjab’s total of 230/3 against Mumbai Indians is the highest team total in this season. It is also the 9th highest total in the IPL.

641 – Runs scored by David Warner in this season; the most by any other player. No one else scored more than 500 runs in this season.

705 – Number of sixes hit in this IPL season; the 3rd most sixes in an IPL season. Mumbai Indians hit 117 sixes in this season, the only team with 100 sixes in 2017 IPL.
