Gautam Gambhir became the second captain to win two IPL titles after Dhoni when he led KKR to lift another trophy by beating KXIP in a high-chasing final in Bengaluru. In fact, it is the only final in which a team won by scoring 200 runs by batting second. This edition saw the number of teams reduced to eight with the withdrawal of PWI. Also, the first leg of this edition took place in the United Arab Emirates because of the general elections. This is the only time the KXIP made the finals in 10 IPL seasons so far.

Highest scorer: KKR’s Robin Uthappa scored 660 runs in 16 innings at an average of 44.

Highest wicket-taker: CSK’s Mohit Sharma took 23 wickets in 16 innings with the best bowling figure of 4 for 41.

Most number of sixes: Breaking the Gayle tradition, KXIP’s Glenn Maxwell hit the most number of sixes in this edition – 36, just two more than the next best Yuvraj Singh.

Highest individual score: KXIP’s Virender Sehwag scored the highest individual knock of 122 against CSK in Mumbai.

Best bowling figure: CSK’s Ravindra Jadeja topped the table again by registering a bowling figure of 4 for 12 against KKR.

Best bowling average: RR’s Ankit Sharma had the best bowling average of 10.75 in three matches in this edition.

Highest team score: KXIP scored 231 for 4 in 20 overs against CSK in Cuttack.

Lowest team score: RCB 70 all out against RR in Abu Dhabi.

Biggest victory (by runs): CSK beat DD by 93 runs in Abu Dhabi.

Smallest victory (by runs): KKR beat RCB by 2 runs in Sharjah.

Player of the series: KXIP’s Glenn Maxwell was the player of the series with 552 runs in 16 innings.
