Yuvraj Singh is back and so is veteran left-arm seamer Ashish Nehra for the tour of Australia. The two senior players have been picked for the 3 T20Is to be contested down under against the Australian team. The selection committee headed by Sandeep Patil met in Delhi today and selected the squads for the 5-match ODI series and the 3-match T20Is.
The young Baroda all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who plays for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL and Punjab’s left-arm fast bowler Brainder Singh Sran, who was a part of Rajasthan Royals are the 2 new names to feature in the lineups. While Mohit Sharma was not available for selection due to fitness issues, Suresh Raina was dropped from the ODI squad. Manish Pandey, who has been in fine form for Karnataka and played for India against Zimbabwe on an away tour, has been given a chance in the ODI team along with Himachal Pradesh’s all-rounder Rishi Dhawan. Ravindra Jadeja and Ishant Sharma have also made a comeback along with the fit again Mohammed Shami.
