Indian T20 League 2019: Match 22, Punjab vs Hyderabad – Dream 11 and Dotball Prediction
Will Kane Williamson play?
Both Hyderabad and Punjab suffered stifling losses in their respective clashes against Mumbai and Chennai on Saturday. Despite the embarrassing loss, where they were bowled out for 96, Hyderabad is still on the 2nd spot in the points table and will now travel to Chandigarh to face Punjab on Monday. Punjab, on the other hand, was handed a 22-run loss in a game where they looked in total control at one stage. Both teams will aim to flush the defeats out of their systems and aim to get back to winning ways.
Chris Gayle’s return from injury was good news for fantasy team lovers but the Jamaican couldn’t make any impact on Saturday. But with over 12,000 runs in the format with an average in the north of 40, Gayle is more than likely to deliver the goods sooner than later. Ashwin has proved his supremacy in white ball cricket with a stellar show this year and could play another crucial role in the game while the likes of Hooda, Yusuf, Manish and Shankar – who form a rusty looking middle order of Hyderabad and have collectively contributed only 202 in 16 innings – will have a point to prove.
Injury Updates: Kane Williamson has recovered from his injury. No other injuries in both teams.
Head to Head: Last 5 games
Hyderabad: 4 wins
Punjab: 1 win
Likely XIs
Punjab: KL Rahul (WK), Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Sarfaraz Khan, David Miller, Sam Curran, Mandeep Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin (C), Murugan Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Andrew Tye/Mujeeb Ur Rahman
Hyderabad: David Warner, Jonny Bairstow (WK), Vijay Shankar, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Yusuf Pathan, Mohammad Nabi/Williamson, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, Siddarth Kaul
Dotball Prediction:
Dotball team for Head to Head/Small Contests:
Wicket-Keeper: Johnny Bairstow
Batsmen: David Warner (C), David Miller, Mayank Agarwal
All-Rounders: Vijay Shankar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Sam Curran (VC)
Bowlers: Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, Rashid Khan
Captain and Vice-Captain choices
Captain: Despite his twin consecutive failures, where he registered scores of 15 and 10, David Warner is still the highest run-getter in IPL 2019 with 279 runs at 69.75. An IPL average in the north of 40 suggests that he will continue to pummel bowlers in the ongoing season.
Vice-captain: Sam Curran’s previous game was a forgettable one but he will have happy memories of playing at this ground where he picked up a hattrick (4/20 & 20 off 10) and helped his side snatch victory from the jaws of defeat against Delhi. The pitch will assist the seamers early on and that is when Curran can make an impact.
Fantasy Tips
It isn’t going as per plan for Bhuvi this year so far as the fast bowler has picked only 3 wickets from 5 games. His alarming economy rate of 9.36 is a surprise as well but Bhuvi still has enough time to make amends. After a successful international debut, Mayank Agarwal hasn’t done much of note but might just come to the party soon.
Safe Captain Choices

Risky Captain Choices

Dotball team for Large/Grand Contests:
Wicket-Keeper: Johnny Bairstow (VC)
Batsmen: David Warner, David Miller, Mayank Agarwal
All-Rounders: Vijay Shankar, Ravichandran Ashwin (C), Sam Curran
Bowlers: Siddharth Kaul, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami
Captain and Vice-Captain choices
Captain: Ashwin’s spell of 3/23 put the brakes on Chennai’s scoring rate. The off-spinner has done exceedingly well this year and looks in no mood to bog down soon. The motivation of winning his spot back in white-ball cricket for India is proving to be a good catalyst for Ashwin and his team this season.
Vice-Captain: Bairstow came into this tournament after a golden run in white-ball cricket for England. The wicket-keeper batsman has successfully carried that success into the IPL and registered his first failure in the last game. With the wicket expected to have even bounce in Punjab, expect another blistering knock from the Englishman.
Fantasy Tips
Miller has started the season well (123 runs @ 61.5 and S/R of 144.7) and could provide the much-needed impetus for Punjab in the latter half of the innings. Kaul got the ball to talk against Mumbai in the previous game and will relish bowling at the seam-friendly Mohali track.
Dream 11 Prediction
Suggested Playing XI No. 1 for Head to Head/Small Leagues
Wicket-keeper – Jonny Bairstow
Batsmen – Chris Gayle (VC), Mayank Agarwal, Sarfaraz Khan, David Warner (C)
All-Rounders – Sam Curran, Vijay Shankar, Mohammad Nabi
Bowlers – Murugan Ashwin, Siddarth Kaul, Sandeep Sharma
Fantasy Tip
Just when people start writing Gayle off, that is when he comes up with a special knock which serves as a reminder of his prowess in T20s. The bounce at Mohali will only help him executing his shots better. Sandeep Sharma has used the knuckleball to outfox the batsmen and is a logical pick for your fantasy team.
Suggested Playing XI No.2 for Grand/Mega Leagues:
Keeper – KL Rahul (VC)
Batsmen – David Miller (C), Sarfaraz Khan, David Warner, Manish Pandey
All-Rounders – Ravi Ashwin, Sam Curran, Mohammad Nabi
Bowlers – Murugan Ashwin, Rashid Khan, Bhunveshwar Kumar.
Fantasy Tip
Rahul will look to hit top gear after a couple of steady knocks this year. He has enough potential to tear apart any attack and can make good use of the fielding restrictions. Time is running out for Manish Pandey to push his case for a possible World Cup selection. With the Hyderabad team instilling a lot of faith in him, Pandey remains a dark horse.
