Indian team announced for the West Indies series and Probable Playing XI
The West Indies team is touring India this winter for a series of 5 ODI’s a T20 and 3 tests. The tour officially starts on the 8th October when India plays them in the first ODI at the Nehru Stadium Kochi.
West Indies have sent to India a team without Chris Gayle whose absence would hurt their chances big time. The latest upbringing following the built-up to the series is Sunil Narine’s ban in the CLT20 and the West Indies Cricket Board’s (WICB) to call him back.
The likely playing XI for West Indies excluding Narine now should be:
Lendl Simmons and Leon Johnson as Openers
Darren Bravo, Marlon Samuels, Denesh Ramdin (wicket-keeper), Kieron Pollard will form the Middle Order
Dwayne Bravo & Darren Sammy will be in as the two all rounder’s.
Ravi Rampaul, Jerome Taylor and Kemar Roach will have the pace bowling responsibility.
Apart from regular duties Marlon Samuels and Leon Johnson will have to provide the team with spin option in Narine’s absence.
The Indian team declared for the first 3 ODI’s:
MS Dhoni (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, Amit Mishra, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami, Mohit Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Murli Vijay, Kuldeep Yadav.
The selectors have maintained the same team and at the same time rewarded Amit Mishra and Kuldeep Yadav with a spot in the squad. Ravichandran Ashwin has been rested for the series and Murli Vijay replaces injured Rohit Sharma for the first three matches of the 5 ODI series.
The Indian team management can look forward to it as a chance of exposure for the younger lot. The guys who could be given a look in for the World Cup perspective, it will be international game for them without much of a risk either.
The other thought could be to give the settled team a longer rope in and let them gain confidence ahead of an important series down under. A few good performances here will help their flow and form.
Taking both the aspects into consideration Indian probable Playing XI:
Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane as Openers, as Rohit Sharma has been ruled out with a fractured figure.
Virat Kohli at number 3, Suresh Raina at four, Ambati Rayudu at five will hold the middle order together.
MS Dhoni will have the responsibility of the lower middle order and Ravindra Jadeja in the all-rounder’s role.
Amit Mishra will be the front line spinner for India along with Jadeja and Raina.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma should lead India’s pace bowling attack.
