India have undoubtedly been a dominant force in all three formats of the game and now with their successful tour of Australia, they have also shown that they can’t be taken lightly abroad by any stretch of the imagination. Virat Kohli has captained the national team with authority and the team also boasts of some of the best in the business owing to which they have been able to dominate the others.
India are also one of the favourites to win the World Cup in England and Wales. In the meantime, Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed reckons the Indian team is far more experienced than the Pakistan team as they have the likes of MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan.
“If you see the India team, they are more senior to us [in terms of experience], they have Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Dhawan, MS Dhoni. We also have couple of experienced players as well but when you come to SA, you have to bat well in the first innings and if you do that then you will win the matches here,” Sarfraz Ahmed was quoted as saying in Pak Passion.
Fakhar Zaman is a very important player for us
Pakistan recently lost the three-match Test series against South Africa 3-0 and were a recipient of severe criticism. They are currently playing the five-match ODI series and won yesterday’s match at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth by five wickets. With the triumph, not only did they took a 1-0 lead in the series, but also remained unbeaten in ODIs at the venue after five encounters.
Sarfaraz also spoke left-handed batsman Fakhar Zaman, who hasn’t quite been at his best in the last few months. He scored a couple of fifties against New Zealand back in November, but apart from that, he has been indifferent. However, Sarfraz mentioned him as a vital cog in their setup and also said that his style of batting is equivalent to that of David Warner and Shahid Afridi.
“Fakhar Zaman is a very important player for us, and his target is to play his natural game. That is just like David Warner or Shahid Afridi used to play so that’s the same role he has for us and he has to play his natural game. But one thing I do say to him is that if you are going to play like that then you have to stay on the wicket because if you do that, then the bowlers will be scared of you,” he added.
