The Men in Blue ran past their opposition easily once again in the 4th ODI in Colombo as they registered their 7th victory of the tour in as many matches. Opting to bat first India put up a huge total on the board (375/5) thanks to huge centuries from Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. After the post-match presentation, the Indian skipper, in a candid interview with Rohit said that the team is like a family now and is going to stay together for a long time.

Virat looked in ominous touch as he hit each Sri Lankan bowler to every corner of the ground. The vice-captain too wasn’t far behind as he too piled on the agony of the opposition and made them look helpless within first 20 overs of the game. BCCI shared a video on their official website in which Rohit is asking Virat a few questions about the team and the skipper answers them with a smile on his face after a huge win; the biggest against Sri Lanka in their own backyard in terms of runs.

Ravi and support staff has to be credited for their efforts

Rohit asked the skipper to talk something about the team from the captain’s point of view and the owner of 29 ODI hundreds was all praise for his mates. “It has been amazing to lead such a wonderful team. He also said that the change room environment has been superb and that is why all the players gel together so well. He especially praised the hunger of the players who always want to perform and do well for the country,” Virat said.

The opener too as a deputy to the 28-year-old commended the efforts of the side and said that every player takes the responsibility when they are in the middle. Both the players praised the coach and the support staff which was heartening to see. Virat reminded himself of the throwdowns Raghu gives them along with batting coach Sanjay Bangar. He also praised the bowling coach Bharat Arun who has always given valuable inputs to the bowlers and most importantly the head coach Ravi Shastri.

Both had some special words for the coach and hailed him for his constant support to the team and gelling with the team nicely. Earlier, Wriddhiman Saha and Kuldeep Yadav had also spoken highly of the Mumbai stalwart and it seems that he is making a real difference to the team in terms of confidence.

Finally, the Indian skipper hoped for a consistent run continues and said, “The team is like a family which will always be together for a long time.”
